TOP Forest weightlifter John Brookes has retained his British title with a massive bench-press lift of 200kg.
Competing in the British championships at Milton Keynes, Brookes took the title with his last lift of the competition.
It is his fourth national success and secures John's place in the British team for the European championships to be held in Estonia in October and the World Championships to be held in Texas next April.
Carl Bevan, also a member of theWhitecroft Gym, lifted in the senior open for the first time and turned in an impressive performance lifting 150kg to finish in sixth place.
Both lifters were supported by British team coach Graham Jones, another well known Whitecroft Gym member.
