Re Paul Morgan's comment on fire clay turning to slurry. Sorry, you're wrong – I've moved tons of it in big mines and small mines.
It's like dough, you get it on your shovel and you have to scrape it off with a piece of wood.
Also your comment on the water rising to 120ft up the shaft. This shaft was over 700ft deep so your estimated water level is over 500ft down from the surface.
