I RARELY go in to Gloucester as I find we are well served with local shops in Coleford and I am a great believer in supporting them.
On September 20 I had an appointment near the Cathedral. Last time I went there, I used the Park and Ride at St Oswalds but on this occasion I put my £2 in the machine to cover me for all day there. There was no notice on the machine to indicate the end of the Park and Ride service.
It was raining quite hard at the time and there were no people waiting at the bus stop which I thought was a bit strange. As I am disabled it was out of the question to walk to the Cathedral. I asked about five people passing by if they knew if the Park and Ride was still running and one of them was able to inform me that it had finished.
Fortunately I was able to use my mobile phone to get someone to pick me up. She also did not know the facility had ceased.
I have since ascertained that the notice regarding the end of this service was published in a Gloucester newspaper. As we live in the Forest we don't read it, so we did not get the information.
This, to my mind, is just an indication of how our neck of the woods is left out in the cold, or in my case, left out in the rain!
