RUMOURS that have abounded recently regarding problems at the British Legion Club in Hill Street, Lydney, have been confirmed as a notice of the club's liquidation have now been placed.

Using the Insolvency Act of 1986, a meeting of creditors has been called for February 6, at the Legion building, Althorpe House.

Legal practitioners Sale Smith and Company of Walsall, have been appointed to organise the insolvency.

The notice regarding the forthcoming actions was signed by David Jones, club secretary.

It is not known how this may affect the future of the imposing and iconic building that houses the club, opposite the Fire Station.
