YORKLEY AFC is hoping their beef with the boar is over as they look forward to playing home matches back on their pitch.

Club chairman, Mark Hudson says the pitch is back to its former state after boar dug it up – thanks to the club funding £3,000 towards gates and fences and the community lending a helping hand.

He said: "The whole surrounding fence has been replaced. All the styles and a new gateway through the woods to the housing estate have been done, we still have to rely on the gates being shut but we have not had any visitors for a few months now thankfully.

"The funding for the fence was all out of football club's funds, although you have to put it up to forestry regulations."

Home games have continued thanks to local businessman, Brian Bennett and his son Ollie loaning the field opposite the school to the club. Meanwhile Clayton Guest and former club president Kenny Howard have helped get the pitch back up and running.

All the pitch repairs were done by some of the players and committee members.

Mark added: "Yorkley AFC would also like to thank Brian and Ollie Bennett for the loan of the field, opposite the school, where several matches have been played over the last few weeks. Also thank you to Clayton Guest and Kenny Howard for their help in getting the pitch up and running. We are now hoping our pitch is boar-free and we're back home playing all games from here on in. We wanted to thank Pip at Viney Hill Physiotherapists who has donated £100 towards repairs."
