A DEDICATED team have proved a shining example of fundraising by collecting £20,000 for a town’s new Christmas lights.

Now Coleford is all set for its big Christmas lights switch on at the start of December and will be launching the festive period with a day of live entertainment, rides, seasonal drinks and market stalls in the town centre.

The Christmas lights switch on event starts at 12 noon on Saturday, December 2, and the town council is looking for community groups to help with manning road closure points in lieu of a donation to their organisation from 10am.

Mayor of Coleford, Cllr Nick Penny, said: “The town council is extremely grateful to the dedicated team of volunteers who have worked tirelessly over the last 12 months to raise over £20,000 to purchase new lights for our town.

“We are pleased to be able to continue to support them with their efforts and look forward to seeing the display this year.”
