I would like to come back to the letter I wrote the other week about the two empty buildings by Coleford Cinema. The more I see them, the more I think it lets the town down to be honest.
Coleford out of the three main Forest towns has hardly got an empty shop on its high street. I can only think of one just off the town centre which is closed, in St John Street.
I see there are one or two empty shops in Pyart Court. To be honest this has always been the case. I remember when they had just opened these shops when I was at school and people would say it would take trade from the town.
Well, what rubbish. Pyart Court has stood on its own feet and will continue to do so.
In the wake of the Tesco plan to bring a new supermarket in to town I welcome it with open arms. I think it's what the town needs and I'm sure people like Clive Bath will stick to their guns. If it gets passed (and I think it will) the supermarket will help, support and aid local shops. Remember, Mr Bath was behind the Pyart Court development too.
The Co-op has had a stranglehold on the Forest for far too long. To be honest the Co-op has done harm to Cinderford. Shops left, right and centre, are closed there.
If it wasn't for the fact that my sister lives there and The Palace Cinema, I wouldn't step foot in the place!
