I hope you don't mind me using your letters page to thank two people who helped me on Monday September 3.

I was visiting Cinderford Library with my sons. My two year old had got tired of walking so I had him up in my arms. We were walking along the crossing in the library car park when I tripped on the uneven surface and fell.

I had some scuffs and bruises but my son had cracked his head open. My thanks to the young lad who was outside the library and enquired if we were OK – he later went back into the library to let them know that we had had an accident (so sorry I didn't get your name).

Many thanks also to Maria Leighton, the lady who stopped and offered us a lift to the Dilke and took time out to stay with us for a while to make sure we were settled. I know that you had other things to do and were on your way to pick up your son but you still offered to take our books back and to come back to the hospital and give us a lift home.

I later filed an accident report at the library. Imagine my dismay when I found out that this is an on-going matter between the library and the council who are refusing to re-lay the car park.

Let's face it the cost of re-laying the surface of the small library car park has got to be less than if some poor person fell, was seriously injured and had to put in a claim.
