AMONG the acres of economic statistics, pro-EU and anti-EU, that have graced your letters columns recently, something seems to have been forgotten:

In the referendum, Scotland is likely to vote ‘yes’ to British membership of the EU.

If the UK as a whole votes ‘no’, it will seem as if “the English” are dragging the Scots out of the EU, and the momentum in Scotland to leave the UK will become unstoppable.

So a vote against the EU is likely to mean the break-up of the UK.

In that sense, ‘no’ voters will literally become ‘Little Englanders’.

As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for!
