THE organisers of St Briavels Carnival picked the best of the weekend weather to give the village – and visitors – a treat.
"We had a wonderful day with lots of people attending," said Tessa Charley.
"Although we don't have any final figures, early indications look like we will have raised more than last year.
"Gate takings were up as were refreshments takings and profit made on the grand raffle. We had lots of entertainment including the Forest Emerald Majorettes (who have increased membership since the piece about them appeared in the Review).
"In addition we were entertained by Parkend Silver Band, a judo display by children from St Briavels School Judo Club and country dancing by Ellwood School. Later on in the afternoon, the children enjoyed taking part in traditional races and even tried their hand at tug of war.
"We had traditional stalls like the WI cake stall and the Moat Society plant stall as well as an opportunity for people to win at skittles, wellie wanging or coconut shy. It was a lovely family day, well attended by people from the village as well as from the local area.
"We are proud of the event and hope that it will continue for many years to come. We would like to thank our sponsors and those who donated raffle prizes for their generosity and thank everyone who attended on the day to help make the event such a success."
