SALLY Lomax has started something which could sweep through the Forest – she's tying yellow ribbons on trees to show her feelings about the proposed Forest sell-off.

And now others who have seen ribboned trees along the Speech House Road are copying Sally's lead – several 'adopted' trees can now be seen along Bream Avenue between Lydney and Coleford.

"I really did it to see if people would start asking why the ribbons were there, and when they found out they could copy it themselves and adopt more trees if they liked," said Sally, who lives at The Barracks near Parkend.

"I was looking for a non-political, safe way to show that the Forest is not for sale, so I got 90 metres of yellow ribbon and started tying. Hopefully many others will do the same thing – everyone can join in. Perhaps people coming into the area from outside will see it too and so it could spread elsewhere."
