THE Review has teamed up with the Forest Council and environmental charity Hubbub to get everyone to #LoveYourForest by getting behind the anti-litter car window sticker competition.

To enter you simply need to display a #LoveYourForest sticker – available at the Review office in Lydney and locations around the Forest including libraries, village shops, leisure centres, tourist destinations, visitor sites and the Forest Council’s offices in Coleford.

Every month during the summer, vehicles spotted sporting the sticker will have a chance to win a prize donated by local businesses and tourist attractions.

The winning registration plates will be published in the Review, on the council’s website and on the the #LoveYourForest website.

The competition aims to raise awareness of litter in the area, particularly that left on the roadside.

The sticker competition follows on from the unveiling of the Trashconverter van – supported by Hubbub and Lucozade Ribena Suntory – which is currently touring the district offering rewards for collected litter.

Rachel Capon, of the joint waste team at the Forest Council said: “Litter is a big problem and each year the district council can expect to pick up over 250 tonnes from the verges, lay-bys, streets and town centres at a cost of £400,000.

“The cost of this clear- up ultimately falls to the taxpayer. One sack of litter will be collected from the roadside for every 300m cleansed, which is why we are delighted to support the #Love Your Forest campaign.

“Most litter is totally avoidable. We hope the message of taking litter home and disposing of it responsibly will resonate with the public and that they will help spread this message by picking up a sticker and displaying it in their cars.

“We would like to thank local businesses and Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism for getting behind the #LoveYourForest campaign and we have some great prizes up for grabs thanks to them.

Prizes have already been donated by Whitemead Forest Park, Perrygrove Railway, Newent Birds of Prey Centre, Miners Arms

in Whitecroft, Taurus Crafts, Freedom Leisure Centres and the Camping and Caravanning Club.”

Window stickers can also be collected from the #LoveYourForest Trashconverter van which will be parked up at locations across the Forest until Sunday, May 28.
