HIGH-speed car stunts in Forest public places that are a danger to life and property are being filmed to show round and even put on the internet.

And police say they want anyone who witnesses such incidents to report car numbers – they could seize the vehicles involved.

In one incident at Lydney Lake a fisherman who heard brakes screeching on the nearby bypass roundabout investigated to find a youth filming a spinning car as it collided with his own parked vehicle.

"He obviously lost control and hit my car," said Dave Wintour, who was parked on the roundabout layby.

"He bashed the bumper or rear spoiler off his own car and there was a chap stood on the side of the pavement videoing.

"When he saw what happened he picked the bumper up, chucked it in the car and jumped in himself, and they drove off up the bypass."

The car was a red Japanese make – possibly a Nissan – but Mr Wintour said he had witnessed a green car doing stunts, a practice known as 'drifting', in the same place a week earlier, again with somebody filming.

"It's irresponsible driving. The car could have hit kids, someone with a pram, or even my five-year-old boy getting out of the car," he said.

He estimated the crash had caused £1,000 damage to his car.

A Gloucestershire police spokesman said: "Members of the community should report incidents of drivers using their cars in such a way to police, ensuring they make a note of the car's numberplate. If caught, legislation is available to seize offending vehicles."
