Your correspondent Sylvia Auty draws attention to a book on the famous village of Lydbrook by Harry Black.

His name is not familiar to me, I'm afraid, but that of his sister, Elsie Black, certainly is. She was the organist at Lydbrook Church of the Holy Jesus when I was a boy, and the piano teacher both of my father, Ray, and my auntie, Vera (Fletcher-Jones).

I too would be eager to get hold of a copy of this book if it is still available. Harry Black must have had a fascinating story to tell.
