THE monthy public meeting of the Lydbrook Ukulele Club takes place this Wednesday (April 3), at the Anchor Inn in Central Lydbrook, starting at 7.30.

The event is free – though they will accept donations – and they say all levels of musicianship, or none, can be catered for. They will even loan a ukulele for the evening so that non owners can have a go on this hugely popular instrument.

•The Lydbrook Ukulele Club are also planning a fundraising evening in aid of Lydbrook Primary School, which is to be held on Friday April 12 in Lydbrook Memorial Hall. This will feature the club members playing their repertoire, plus a quiz – which has been written by the writer of questions for TV smash hit 'The Weakest Link' – and a cash bar (with local ales) and ploughman's supper available.

Tickets for the event are £5.
