SOME £1,850 raised from a 24-hour swimathon has been donated to Forest Pulse.
Cinderford Swimming Club presented the cheque to the manager of Forest Pulse Pam Jones and its members at Freedom Leisure Centre, in Cinderford, on Sunday morning before their session.
The charity supports children and young people with disabilities and their families in the Forest.
Pam Jones said: “Thank you to Cinderford Swimming Club and everybody who took part in the swimathon and their efforts. It’s always nice when the community chooses to help us.
“The funding will be used towards our varied programme of sport, social and recreation activities for disabled children and young people in the Forest of Dean. This includes the youth club, independence projects, weekend, afterschool and holiday clubs, and trips.”
In March the club swam 17,902 lengths of the pool – equivalent to 279 miles – the distance from Cinderford to Newcastle.
Three swimmers: Rob Cleal, Alex Cleal and Catherine Lyne stayed for the full 24 hours.
Cinderford Town Mayor Cllr Max Coborn was also invited to attend by the swimming club.
