LYDNEY man, Chris Toomey, has been charged with the murder of Jonathan Green at a house in the town last Sunday (November 8).
Police say investigations are continuing into the fatal stabbing which took place in a maisonette-style house in Manor Court, off Manor Road, Lydney. Officers were called to the address at about 12.45am and 30-year-old Jonathan Green, also from Lydney, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is understood he had been stabbed in the neck.
Shortly after, 24-year-old Chris Toomey was arrested on suspicion of murder at a first floor flat above Absolute hairdressers and the former Crazy Occasions shop in Newerne Street.
Police officers were guarding the house in Manor Court earlier this week while forensics worked the crime scene. Jonathan Green, who used to live in Primrose Hill, is understood to have family and relatives around the Forest. His next of kin have been informed.
Mr Toomey of The Willows, Purlieu, appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates on Tuesday, and was remanded in custody to appear at Bristol Crown Court on November 17.
