A MAN has been charged in connection with the alleged stabbing of a middle-aged man during a suspected break-in.

Ryan Stuart Bartley, 34, of Yarrow Court, Weston-super-Mare, is due to to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Thursday, September 27) on charges of section 18 wounding and robbery at a property in Redmarley early on Monday morning (September 24).

Police said after the incident, where a car was also reported stolen, they were trying to trace a group of up to six men.

A Gloucestershire force spokesman said: “Police were called to the address shortly before 12.30am where a man aged in his 50s had suffered stab wounds.

“He was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. It is believed there were between four to six men involved in the incident where a vehicle was also stolen.

“They fled the scene and the vehicle has since been recovered by police.”
