THE man who collected gifts for injured soldiers at Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham two years ago is planning a new endurance riding charity campaign.
Marcus Bristow of Coleford will be joining 200 riders from Royal British Legion around the country in an attempt to break the world record for the most motorcyclists taking part in an organised 1,000 mile ride in 24 hours.
He said: "Currently the world record for completing this task in one organised event is 152.
"The Royal British Legion riders hope to break this record by having 200 bikers complete it. It is open to anyone who thinks their butt is hard enough!"
The Review publicised Marcus' previous campaign and he said he got an excellent response to the story.
Marcus said: "The response to your coverage, and only your coverage, was immense. People of the Forest were very generous when donating gift show boxes for injured service personnel two Christmasses ago.
"As a caseworker for this charity I know that a lot of money collected nationally for the Poppy Appeal is drawn down and donated to needy ex-service personnel in the Forest of Dean."
