SCOUTS across the area had their own ‘non-uniform’ day to mark the birth of the movement’s founder, Baden-Powell.

Several schools allowed Scouts, Cubs and Beavers to mark Founder’s Day by swapping their school uniform for their troops’ jumpers and neckers.

The local schools taking part were: Drybrook Primary School, English Bicknor, Littledean, Ruardean and Ruardean Woodside primary schools, Dene Magna School Mitcheldean and John Kyrle High School in Ross.

Pupil and member of 1st Ruardean Scouts Dylan Alliston said: “Scouts is fun and you meet lots of friends.

The day marks the birth of Baden-Powell in 1857. He founded the Scouts in 1908.
