WANTED – real men to take part in a new musical written by Forest author, Rachel Austin.

There's no shortage of girls or women in the cast who've just started rehearsing 'Stone of Dreams' – but men are another matter.

Peter Silsby, of The Forest Theatre Musical Society, said: "We've got about 25 people taking part in the rehearsals of all ages from 13 right up to about 70, but we could really do with more male singers.

"Although the Forest of Dean is well known for its male voice choirs, men do seem to be reluctant to join us. It's a shame, because this musical is full of melodious chorus songs and we need men to widen the vocal range and bring out the wonderful harmonies."

That's not to say there aren't men taking part in the story of the battle between dream-makers and nightmares, just not enough.

Rehearsals normally take place every Tuesday evening at Lakers School Hall, although there will be a different venue for April 6 and 13 because of the Easter break.

If you're a man, can carry a melody and don't mind being outnumbered by the fairer sex, get in touch with Peter or Margaret Silsby on 01594 832461 or by email: [email protected]">[email protected]
