MORE than 350 people, including 50 cancer survivors, took part in the Relay for Life Forest of Dean in Lydney.

The relay, organised by Cancer Research UK, raised almost £46,000 in a weekend of celebration and remembrance.

Event Chair, Neil Garner said: "We have something incredibly special here in the Forest – there is a real magic about this event and it has something for everyone.

"We have teams of people, such as the Wrinkly Squad, captained by local lady, Mary Puterill, who have taken part every year and raise over £2,000 each time, Severnbanks, captained by headteacher, Pam Howell, who also raise over £4,000 each year, and then there are the new teams, like the Jaeger Bombshells who come along and are simply blown away with what we put together, how much money we raise, and double their total in one year to £3,000."
