MANY people have contacted UKIP in the Forest of Dean concerned about disparate groups who are organising support for migrants in the camps around Calais.

While, on the face of it, their efforts are motivated by compassion, they are misguided and will only cause the crisis to worsen.

The UN states that over 90 per cent of the migrants in Calais are young men whose primary motive is economic.

They use criminal tactics to cause damage to property and break into vehicles bound for the UK.

This puts British lorry drivers at risk as well as increasing costs to our haulage industry.

The real refugees who need our help are in the camps on the Syrian border

These are really needy, not those prepared to commit criminal acts to get into Britain illegally.

UKIP policy is to offer support to the refugees from the Syrian civil war and particularly Christians who are suffering disproportionally in the conflict.
