THE Review's last 'Opinion' and some letters minimise our immigration problem. The UKIP party, all two of them, is wrongly taken to task for saying large areas are now 'unrecognisable' due to culture changes.
To be clearer, very many manufacturing towns have lost their former industries and have large foreign populations running in parallel, with different languages and traditions.
The real problem is the increase in world population which in turn is leading to all the other ills becoming worse.
So positive, cheerful letters please with commonsense suggestions. What a waste of paper just to blame other people.
And, for instance, strawberries used to have a short, luscious season, and were picked by local mums round here, and they enjoyed themselves, and pick-your-own was bigger. This beats the flavourless mass-produced sheltered things you pay dearly for in supermarkets all year round.
Would you want your own child to be a fruit or vegetable picker? No, I think you would want them to have a more worthwhile job where they could make progress.
