A STEAM Mills woman will get behind the wheel for her first drive in the Wyedean Stages rally,
Maureen Lane, who is 62, will be the only female driver in a field of more than 110 for the event on Saturday,
November 11.
Among the men she will be trying to beat will be husband Chris who helped her turn a ‘wreck’ of a Mark One Escort into a racing machine.
She sat a marshals’ exam and after an ‘experience’ day in the Forest found she loved being behind the wheel.
Maureen competed for the first time in mid Wales in the summer and says she is still ‘buzzing’.
She added: “I then made up my mind it would be brilliant to do a home event – the Wyedean – and it will be extra special as Chris is doing the same rally in his Mk2.”
