GWENT Police officers on patrol in Caldicot stopped and searched a man, the result of which was the seizure of drugs, and a conviction for the man for money laundering.
The man, Robert Ayre of Longfellow Road, Caldicot, was found to have three bags of white powder in his possession, which, on being tested, turned out to be a quantity of both cocaine and ketamine.
But on searching the man's home, police found around £10,000 in cash, which was hidden in a cupboard. This money, the police believed, was the proceeds from a cannabis factory.
At Newport Crown Court Ayre, aged 23, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for money laundering.
