MEETINGS are to be held early in the New Year to discuss flood risk management in the Severn estuary.

The Environment Agency has made contact with parishes bordering the river and say they will work with them to discuss defences where "managed realignment" has been proposed.

The Agency say the Flood Risk Management Strategy aims to identify the most effective and sustainable ways to manage flood risk over the next 100 years.

Locally, they say there have been a number of concerns from individuals and organisations concerned by proposals for managed realignment and the flood risk to infrastructure.

The Agency says it wants to develop its strategy by working closely with local communities and to reach a general agreement before document is published in April.
