A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital after crashing at the scene of a fuel spill near a village’s shop and social club.
The incident happened around 2.30pm on Monday (March 12) in Lydbrook on the B4234, causing traffic hold ups whiel the motorcyclist was treated at the scene.
A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said the oil spill happened before the crash, but they were not sure at this stage if it caused the accident.
He added: “We received a call at just after 2.30pm to reports that a motorcyclist had come off their bike in Lydbrook.
“This was near to Central Stores on Bell Hill and the Lydbrook and District Community Social Club. Highways have been called to attend to an oil spill on the road."
A spokesman from South West Ambulance Service said the patient suffered a leg injury and was treated at the scene before being taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
A spokesman from Gloucestershire County Council, said: “Police have contacted us to report a fuel spill on the road on the B4234 and crews are on their way.
“Residents can report any issues on the highways via 08000514514 24 hours a day.”
