TUTSHILL mum of two Doreen Connor has high hopes of hitting the album charts after being signed for a £1m record deal.

Doreen has just revealed she is a member of newly formed group The Harmonies, who are about to release an album called 'Voices of the WI'.

She has spent all summer recording with fellow group members but has been sworn to secrecy until now.

"It's all very exciting," she said this week. "It's a question of keeping cool and taking one step at a time. Once the launch is over there will be concerts and other things but for the moment the album is the main thing.

"My family are so excited – they're over the moon. It makes me very proud when I think that I am doing it all for them."

Doreen and the Harmonies performed on Saturday at Prince Charles' Eco Festival at Clarence House in London.

"I didn't get to meet the Prince but just walking around the grounds there was great," she said.

Her children, son Lewis, seven, and daughter Julia, five, both at Tutshill School, have been watching mum's career with interest, as has husband Mitchell.

"it has all been just unbelievable. The children and I joined Doreen over the weekend at a really nice hotel in London and went to Clarence House with her. We heard them all perform and she sounded great!" he said.
