FOREST MP Diana Organ is to be asked to investigate the security of care homes locally following an attack on a pregnant woman at Broadoak, near Newnham.
Mrs Karen Rodgers, who is expecting a baby soon, was grabbed from behind and pulled backwards by a woman as she was locking her car door near her home in Broadoak.
"Fortunately my mother-in-law was nearby with my two children and was able to intervene and pull the woman away," said Mrs Rodgers.
"I had no idea the woman was there. She grabbed my hair and pulled me backwards. It was a very frightening experience," she said.
Mrs Rodgers said she was now concerned for the safety of other people living locally.
"I believe there is a serious risk and I am really worried there could be an attack on an older person," she said.
Mrs Rodgers is to ask Mrs Organ about security at local care homes.
"We have no idea who the residents are and why they are in these homes. But if any of them are a danger to local people it is not good enough that they should be allowed out without supervision.
"This incident has really unsettled me. I have seen a doctor who has told me everything is fine but it could easily have been so much worse," she said.
Inspector David Smith, of Cinderford police, said the incident was being investigated and a woman was in custody and at present being assessed.
While he could not comment on this particular case, care in the community was a complex issue.
"There will always be a slight element of risk. Because of civil liberties no-one could be stopped from walking out of a residential home if they were determined to do so," he said.
He added that levels of supervision were laid down by the Residential Homes Act.
