SIZE zero fashion has hit the Dean Heritage Centre with a new exhibition of Victorian clothes which are so tiny they will not fit modern mannequins.

The organisers are appealing for people to loan small dressmaker's mannequins to help display the clothes safely.

Organiser Mary Dutson said: "Modern dummies are just far too big for much of the costume that we want to display.

"Ideally we need lots of size zero dummies, or even teenage-sized ones to display the costume on.

"Even better would be adjustable dress-makers mannequins so that we can make sure the costume looks as good as it possibly can."

Mary has her own collection of Victorian costumes and will be giving a talk on Easter Monday, April 13, about the era's style.

The exhibition will include part of Melville Watts' extensive collection of antique clothes.

"The addition of Melville Watts' collection to this exhibition is really exciting," said Mary.

"Our visitors are really in for a treat, as these pieces are very rarely seen."

The exhibition will run from April 10 to 26. For more information or to loan mannequins contact Gina Mills on 01594 822170 or e-mail gina @deanheritagemuseum.
