PARKEND Silver Band and Pillowell Ladies Choir are performing a concert in aid of Forest Read Easy Deal this Saturday (October 22).
The concert at Parkend Memorial Hall, the final part of a series of Foresters’ Forest musical events sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund, will be compèred by Keith Morgan.
The evening will be offered in the same spirit as the old Forest “smoking concerts” that raised funds for local people who needed help. Entrance is free.
The evening’s finale will be a performance of the Parkend March, a piece recently rediscovered by the band, written by TJ Powell. Missing parts of the composition were added by local musician Clive Lewis and it was performed at the September unveiling of the commemorative stone at New Fancy. Louis Thomas, the youngest member of the band, will be playing a solo Euphonium piece.
The concert starts at 7.30pm.
A donation will be collected for the Forest Read Easy Deal; a voluntary group that provide one-to-one trained reading coaches to help anyone who has difficulty reading. For more information contact 07746371353.
