MORE than 200 singers and musicians came together for a fundraising concert held last Saturday.
Funds raised will go to 'Afghan Heroes' and the 1 Rifles 'Young People's Activity Break Project'.
In all 203 young people took part in the performance, including children from Offa's Mead, The Dell and Thornwell.
Chepstow School provided the Year 9 Singing Group, and the Barber Shop Chorus, both directed by the new Head of Music, Mr Simon Hendry, and from Wyedean School came the Wyedean Gospel Choir – a choir formed by and directed by the students themselves, and led this year by Frances Hamilton.
The main Wyedean School Choir, conducted by Head of Music, Mrs Pat Allard, and the Wyedean Big Band (WD Forte) directed by Mr Brian Ellam, Deputy Head of Music, both performed, as did 'Scary Door', the winners of the Youth Council of Chepstow's Battle of the Bands in January, led by Dan McCaully.
Cllr Lewis said afterwards: "This has been an incredible evening, so much enjoyed by so many people - participants and audience alike! We must do it again sometime – perhaps in the Castle next year as part of the Chepstow Festival!"
