ALASTAIR Fraser's letter in last week's Review about me and my cats contained many inaccuracies.
When he and his wife and daughter called on me my cats were in the cattery – they never came in the house. As for not working, he should get in touch with Richard Read Transport, the Forest of Dean District Council (driving refuse lorries), Readymix Concrete, various agencies, Bulwark Contracts at Llanwern Steelworks and so on and ask how many years I have worked for them.
I would not take a driving job if it meant having to have nights out, because of not being back at night to see to the cats. In the last 22 years I have only had one night away and on that occasion I left a house key with a relative to check and feed the cats.
I don't know where Mr Fraser got his information from – it never came from me. I never knew of him until he had the idea of having the cats at his place.
I have been on pension credit (since my 60th birthday) but this is because I cannot find work at my age. I do not prefer to live on state handouts as Mr Fraser stated.
As for my walls, I had just started started scraping wallpaper off in order to redecorate when Two Rivers Housing and Mr Fraser called in.
