TWO new 'daffodil trails' have been launched by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust as part of its 50th anniversary year.

Each trail takes in two of the trust's nature reserves in the heart of the county's famous 'golden triangle,' named after its fields of native wild daffodils.

Gloucestershire's High Sheriff, Ceri Evans, launched the new walks at 12.30pm on Saturday, with a short speech and Trust staff led a walk around the trail near Oxenhall.

"It is a delight to be here and meet so many enthusiastic people... and to launch the new daffodil trail leaflet, which is absolutely lovely," said Ceri.

An explanatory leaflet will be available for visitors to the trails. It is designed to raise local awareness of the wild daffodil, voted the county flower, and its plight against fragmentation, neglect of habitats and hybridisation with cultivated species.
