A NEW half marathon, taking in some of the most scenic stretches of the Wye Valley, will go ahead on May 22.
The inaugural Whitebrook 'Wind-Up' Half Marathon is being hosted by the Whitebrook Village Hall Committee. The course consists of two entirely off-road laps taking in a two mile stretch of the Wye, winding woodland tracks and the picturesque Whitebrook Valley.
As well as the running, the 'Wind-Up' promises to be a fun day out for family and friends too. There is easy access to the course for spectators and a full range of hot and cold drinks, snacks and burgers will be available from a marquee. There will also be a licensed bar.
Race organiser and local author Matthew Hall says: "We're not just promising a challenging and scenic course, we're offering a warm welcome to runners' supporters and a fun village fete atmosphere.
"Whether you're running or just coming along for a great day out in the country, it promises to be great fun."
The run will start and will finish at Tump Farm, Whitebrook, where there will be ample field parking. The course is fully marshalled, there will be regular drinks stations and full first aid back-up.
