TWO applications for new estates which could see more than 300 homes built will be decided by Forest planners next week.

The plans by Gladman Developments for Lower Lane Berry Hill and Elm Road, Tutshill have both sparked local opposition.

The recommendation to the Forest Council's planning committee is to refuse the applications for up to 200 homes at Berry Hill and for up to 126 houses at Tutshill.

The council has received 110 responses from people living near Lower Lane concerned about the impact of the development and both West Dean Parish Council and Coleford Town Council have registered objections.

At Tutshill there have been 121 letters from villagers expressing concern and both Tidenham Parish Council and Chepstow Town Council have objected.

The applicant says the proposals will bring high quality homes that are needed in the district.

The plans will be discussed by the planning committee at its meeting next Tuesday (December 9).
