LYDNEY'S new indoor swimming pool has been a splash-hit!

The first 27 days of operating brought in over 8,000 customers - and over 99 per cent of them reckon the pool is first class.

"There were a couple of minor points we overlooked and we are rectifying. But the general view is that the pool is outstanding. It has been very well received," said manager Andy Barge.

"It is being widely welcomed as a superb facility. From the 7am 'early bird' sessions through to the evening sessions, the pool is always busy. We are delighted," he said.

The pool is being used by all sections of the community from toddlers to pensioners. There are facilities to help disabled people and helpful staff on hand at all times.

Plans are already being hatched for a Lydney Swimming Club to bring competitive swimming to the town.
