IF you live in England but your doctor is from a surgery in Wales, the way in which you are referred to see a consultant or to a community service is about to change.

Rules governing the referral process and the times which patients can expect to wait to receive treatment are different in England and Wales. Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (GCCG) is running a series of Cross Border Healthcare drop-in sessions next week to explain what this means for local residents.

From 3pm to 7pm you can pop in to one of three sessions find out more about how these changes may affect you. They will be held on Monday May 23 at Sedbury and Beachley Village Hall, King Alfred’s Road, Sedbury and on Tuesday May 24 at Tidenham War Memorial Hall, Coleford Road, Tutshill.

Patients living in England but seeing a Welsh- registered GP practice, will continue to be entitled to free prescriptions. There are no planned changes to prescription entitlements in Wales. To find out more, contact GCCG on 0800 0151 548.
