A Stagecoach bus skidded off the road last Tuesday evening and almost overturned after apparently swerving to avoid a collision.

The bus came to rest at a steep angle against a hedge, in Oakwood Road, Bream.

The 23 Stagecoach double-decker service, which runs from Lydney to Coleford, had the mishap at around 5pm, in the heavy fog and rain that had descended on the area during the evening.

Seven passengers, plus the driver, were on board the bus when the incident occurred, but no injuries were reported.

The road was closed for around three hours while the bus was recovered.

A spokesman for Stagecoach said: “Seven passengers were on board the bus at the time of the incident. There were no injuries to any of the passengers or the driver.

“The passengers were collected by car and taken to their destination.”
