THREE Forest mums spent the weekend taking on the Big Black Mountains Challenge in preparation for their Three Peaks challenge next month.

Becky Hurcombe, Kelly Ruck and Laura Green completed the 19.5-mile hike, in the Brecon Beacons, in six hours and 23 minutes.

Coleford mum-of-three Kelly lost her son Preston 10 years ago, and to mark the anniversary will join two of her friends in a ‘Three Peaks for Preston’ challenge on June 24 to raise money for Sands.

The stillbirth and neonatal death charity helps supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.

The Three Peaks challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.

To drum up extra funds the women are also arranging a charity night on Friday, June 17 at 7pm at Forest Hills Golf Club. There will be food and live music. For tickets contact Becky on 07792 310902.

Becky said: “On all three peaks of our challenge we will be taking our ‘angel banner’, remembering all of the babies who were too beautiful for earth.

“If anybody would like an angel baby remembered and taken to the highest peaks, please drop us a message of the name to be printed or leave a message on our just giving page. A voluntary donation of £2 to our fundraising page would be much appreciated, helping with our continued effort to raise as much as possible for sands.
