I WAS so relieved when I read the letter from A1 Driver, Cinderford (Review, March 13) that drivers of HGV are highly skilled professionals. Think of the disaster if they were not. Thank goodness Tesco employs qualified drivers.
It is more than a case of a couple of extra HGVs per day. A1 has forgotten to mention the extra petrol tankers that will be driven into the town.
Cinderford is not a suitable place to have a large supermarket and store. A1 wrote that the problem in small towns are caused by other road users not giving enough room for the HGVs to drive through.
I have got news for you A1. Cinderford has narrow roads and many road users pass along them. I really do not think that the councillors are going to prevent other road users using Cinderford just to allow Tesco HGVs to have a straight run. Even if Belle Vue Road is made a restriction area for parking there will always be other road users.
Something else which might interest you A1. Tesco is not wanting to come to Cinderford in order to allow a few residents to get cheaper petrol. It will be coing for the area surrounding Cinderford and thousands of road users will come.
You do not have to drive to Gloucester for cheaper petrol. Go to Ross. Morrisons have a supermarket that is almost second to none and also has cheap petrol. – Mrs J.P. Pennock, Ruardean Woodside.
