SO Roger Horsfield wants to take over Monmouth as well as Switzerland? I suspect not, it's just his convoluted way of revealing to us all that we are the only country in the world that does not have a written constitution.

We then find ourselves nearing the end of his diatribute containing sly, backhanded 'compliments' to HM Queen Elizabeth, when he announces that he wants an elected president.

There is not, nor has there ever been, a president in the whole world who can hold a candle to our Queen. Just look at the Presidential elections taking place in America, where one candidate spent 15 million dollars on 'negative' advertising, and the mud slinging on TV.

I agree that we do need some reforms (not least our relationship with the E.U., which is up to its 'blind as a pit pony' eyeballs with presidents) but not on the back of deluded opinions. If we were to have a written constitution then it should be approached very, very carefully, and that includes the half baked proposals for reforming the House of Lords.

We need a President like a Swiss icicle in our bed.

There is nothing undemocratic about a constitutional monarchy and long may that be so.
