What an indictment of the nuclear industry that it has been producing tons of nuclear waste for 50 years without knowing what it would be able to do with it.
Back in the 70s and very early 80s tons of waste was taken out to sea from Sharpness Docks, and dropped into the sea off the coast of Spain. Thank goodness for campaigners from Stroud for drawing our attention to that, and to the National Union of Seamen who refused to carry out the practice.
Can anyone credit that they are even contemplating producing even more radioactive waste with a new set of nuclear power stations?
The waste and disposal of it is yet another reason why we must say 'no' to the huge new nuclear power station at Oldbury.
