We hear that the Coal Board describes the Cinderford Northern Quarter (CNQ) area as 'high risk' for building on and I believe it says that no buildings should be above mine shafts.
If the Forest of Dean District Council approves the planning application to build a college, an hotel, about 190 houses and industrial units above that highly mined area which has flooding possibilities and toxic waste there then what financial guarantee is there in case of disasters?
Is the public assured that no extra cost will be passed to the taxpayer?
In fact should not the councillors promoting this CNQ project be made liable for any disaster and any insurance problems and to sign an agreement that they will pay the costs between them?
Already one councillor, over and above those already against the project, voted at the last full council meeting against the Forest of Dean borrowing £3.5 million to overcome a shortfall in this project.
He said that as a businessman he would not accept the risk.
We are told by the councillors that the required engineering is possible, but we are not given a cost for that work.
Could that be because 'they' do not know what they are going to find?
Not all mines' whereabouts were plotted we hear.
The councillors must take all financial responsibility for pushing this project if they approve it. Presumably they know all that is involved.
Still very seriously concerned at the total effects of this project.
