I WAS interested to read about our plans to build a bridge between Lydney and Sharpness back in 1996 in the article A Year in your Review, when I headed up the Forest of Dean Regeneration Partnership.

It may interest your readers that we also very nearly achieved a park and ride station at Elton Corner that year and a Tesco store for Cinderford, both of which were quashed by the incoming Labour government’s John Prescott.

It would appear that old ideas regularly re-appear many years later as someone else’s new ideas.

Let us hope that they have better fortune than we did. I wish them well in their endeavours. – Greg Moger, Cinderford.
