GOOD sports in Harrow Hill Football Club volunteered for a little pain so that energetic Bronwyn Davies can make a financial gain in her fundraising drive to climb Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain.

They manfully agreed to be sponsored to have their hairy regions waxed by four local beauticians at the White Horse in Mitcheldean on Saturday night.

Bronwen, 35, from Plump Hill, Mitcheldean, said: "I have already received wonderful support from friends and the local community."

She is making her climb in October in aid of the Brandon Trust which supports local people who have learning disabilities.

"We have already raised £800 and have another £3,000 to go so we're hoping the leg waxing followed by a car boot sale in the Vantage Point car park on Sunday will give us a boost," she said.

Bronwyn, a mother of two who assists her husband Frank with his fly fishing, guiding and instruction business, has already started getting in shape for her epic 19,685ft climb by running down Plump Hill to her two weekly Zumba classes and back.
