NEWNHAM helped kick the pantomime season off with a twist on the children's favourite fairytale Red Riding Hood.

A packed audience went along to Newnham Club to watch Newnham Drama Group and Junior Newnham Players host Vicar turns Demon.

The village has built-up a strong reputation over the years for putting on fantastic pantomimes and this year was no exception.

Director Pat O'Hara said: "We were well-supported on Thursday and Friday night and Saturday's matinee was packed out. The audience had a wonderful time and really got involved with the production.

"Newnham Drama Group started as a pantomime group and has been doing performances since the 1980s. They had a brief break and restarted just over 10 years ago.

"There were more than 20 people in the cast this year – 12 of which were from the Junior Newnham Players. The shows are a real community event and I decided on Red Riding Hood this year as a pantomime as I wanted nice family entertainment. I feel we achieved this.

"I want to particularly thank the backstage crew who work so hard to help with the show – we wouldn't have done it without them."
