She said: “At one point we had 4,000 people on the field. It was such a wonderful atmosphere and day. The weather really helped. We had lots of entertainment for all the family to enjoy from dance troupe Harmony Twirlstars, singers and Pandemonium Steel Band.
“We also had demonstrations from the MSA Master Sken Academy and stalls.”
The ever-popular float procession saw some spectacular entries based on lots of different themes.
The three top prize winners for the heavy goods vehicles were Wyesham Social Club who won £250, Parkend School (£200) and Forest Musical Society (£150). The two winners in the light vehicles category were Wyesham Social Club (£150) and Forest of Dean Vintage Vehicles Club (£100). The best decorated car was Sling Playing Fields who won £50.
Entry numbers for the flower and vegetable show were down on last year, nevertheless there was a good selection in the crafts category.
Meryl added: “Thank you to those who helped on the day and Roger Smith who made the announcements about what was going on where and when as well as Ian McNally for opening the event. It was a fantastic day.”
