SUNDAY last, 2pm, Bathurst Park Road, Lydney. Common sense is not prevailing.
At least 17 vehicles are parked illegally, either on pavements or on double yellow lines, making access and movement along the road and around the entrance of the toddlers' play area in the park difficult and dangerous.
At 2.15pm one resident reported the situation to the Gloucester police contact number. At 2.45pm another resident did likewise, as did another person at 3.15pm. By 5.30pm when all the offending vehicles had left and darkness was falling there was still no sign of any police interest.
Nothwithstanding, the ignorance/incompetence of the vehicles' owners to the Highway Code, where Mr "New" Inspector, were the men and women of the local constabulary?
With the aid of satellite navigation it should have been simple to pinpoint the problem spot – one vital clue is that the Police Station is about 200 metres away on the same road!
One other relevant question, this time to the Town Council.
Why is the park car-park itself closed on the busiest day of the week? – Alan Preest, Beaumont Place, Lydney.
